Argentine Tango Beginner Workshop in the Valley
Summer 2010
Port
Williams Community Centre/Fire Hall/Library
131 Main
Street, Port Williams
Argentine tango is a sensual and improvised art
form that requires one to be completely in the moment with one’s body,
one’s partner, and the music.
This dance originated in the working-class barrios of Buenos
Aires in the late nineteenth century, and since then has spread across
the globe. People of
all ages and backgrounds around the world have become committed
disciples of this intriguing dance.
Francie Early and Todd Thompson, Halifax-based,
well-trained, and enthusiastic aficionados of Argentine tango, are
coming to the Valley this summer to share their knowledge of and joy in
this unique dance. They are
offering a four-session beginner workshop
with “DanceTime at Port Williams” at the Port Williams Community
Centre on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, beginning July 6th,
with a free introductory class one week before, on Tuesday evening, June
29th (6:30 pm to 7:30 pm; same location).
